The Centre for Sustainable Tourism (ZENAT) is an association of tourism experts at Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development. Above all, the work of the ZENAT includes the development and implementation of third-party funded projects as well as advanced education and qualification measures (such as seminars, workshops) for practitioners on various topics related to sustainable tourism. Its expertise lies primarily in climate adaptation and mitigation, biodiversity (protected areas), sustainable corporate and destination management, mobility, renewable energies and the regional economic effects of sustainable tourism. The ZENAT spatially focuses on

  • Germany with special emphasis on the state of Brandenburg,
  • the European Union including its candidate states as well as
  • developing and transition countries.

The special methodological competence of ZENAT lies in the combination of methods of empirical social research with scientifically oriented research and survey methods.
